GERMAN Fruit Tart
Originally "German Plum Tart", recipe borrowed from "Taste of Home Magazine" (August/September 2003, p41). Thanks to Naomi Jones for sharing your version as well. This is my modified version using simple fruits such as banana, apple & kiwifruit.
INGREDIENTS
INGREDIENTS
- 1 each of thinly sliced banana, apple & kiwifruit
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- sugar to taste
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- Milk to make dough
- Icing sugar & whipped cream (optional) for garnishing
- In a large bowl, add melted butter & sugar, mix until it becomes fluffy
- Add flour and combine to form soft dough using milk
- Place this dough in a pie dish by pressing the bottom & sides
- Arrange fruit slices in dough with skin sides up
- Sprinkle with extra sugar (if required) over top of the fruits
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees for about 40 minutes or until golden brown on the top and fruits are tender.
