GERMAN Fruit Tart

Originally "German Plum Tart", recipe borrowed from "Taste of Home Magazine" (August/September 2003, p41). Thanks to Naomi Jones for sharing your version as well. This is my modified version using simple fruits such as banana, apple & kiwifruit.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 each of thinly sliced banana, apple & kiwifruit
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • sugar to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • Milk to make dough
  • Icing sugar & whipped cream (optional) for garnishing
METHOD
  • In a large bowl, add melted butter & sugar, mix until it becomes fluffy
  • Add flour and combine to form soft dough using milk
  • Place this dough in a pie dish by pressing the bottom & sides
  • Arrange fruit slices in dough with skin sides up
  • Sprinkle with extra sugar (if required) over top of the fruits
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees for about 40 minutes or until golden brown on the top and fruits are tender.
