Dry Gulam Jamoon


Mouth watering Indian Sweet using home-made ingredients (NOT MTR ready made mix), simple & easy with few ingredients from pantry.



Ingredients for dough
  • 1 cup - milk powder
  • 2 tsp. - plain flour
  • 1-2 tsps. - unsalted butter
  • Pinch of cooking soda
  • Milk/water as required to make a soft dough
Other Ingredients -Oil for deep frying & dry grated coconut for rolling

Ingredients for sugar syrup - 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, pinch of cardamom powder

Method
  • Using the sugar syrup ingredients, make sugar syrup to thread consistency (on a medium flame)
  • Using the dough ingredients, make a soft dough and let it rest for 20 minutes
  • Out of the dough, make small bite size balls (grease your palm with butter) 
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan, deep fry jamoon balls on a low flame until golden brown
  • While the fried jamoon balls are still hot, soak them in the hot sugar syrup and keep it aside for 30-45 minutes (to double jamoon size)
  • On a plate, add some grated dry coconut, remove soaked jamoons from sugar syrup and roll them in dry coconut, refrigerate for 1-2 hours, serve chilled
