Menthya Gojju (ಮೆಂತ್ಯ ಗೊಜ್ಜು)



Ingredients

  • 2 tsps. methi (fenugreek) seeds - roasted & powdered
  • 1 strand curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. chopped coriander leaves (for garnishing)
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds (for seasoning)
  • 1 tsp. urud dal (for seasoning)
  • Jaggary & tamarind juice to taste
  • salt to taste
  • pinch of hing powder
  • red chilli & rasam powder - 1-2 tsps (or as per your spice taste)
  • 2 tsps. dry coconut (in powder form)
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • enough water to make thick or thin gravy
Method (1)
  • Heat oil in a pan, season mustard seeds,  urud dal & curry leaves
  • Add other ingredients, bring it to boil & simmer on low heat until gojju thickens.
  • Serve hot with rice, dosa & chapati
Method (2) - same ingredients except methi seeds, urud dal, dry red chillies & dry coconut - roasted and grinded into a smooth paste & then gojju is prepared.
