Sakkre-Kobbari Holige (ಸಕ್ಕರೆ-ಕೊಬ್ಬರಿ ಹೋಳಿಗೆ)

HOLIGE (ಹೋಳಿಗೆ) - a traditional type of Indian Sweet flat-bread in the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa & Gujarat.

ಸಕ್ಕರೆ-ಕೊಬ್ಬರಿ ಹೋಳಿಗೆ


Ingredients for filling
  • dry coconut (powdered) - 1 cup
  • powdered sugar - 3/4 cup (more or less to your taste)
  • cardamom (powdered)  8-10
Method - In a bowl, add above ingredients, mix well to combine by adding little bit of milk and make lemon sized balls out of this mixture.  Keep this aside until your dough is ready to roll.



Ingredients for dough 
                                      
  • 1 cup maida flour (OR 1/2 cup each of Maida & Wheat flour)
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of turmeric powder
  • 10-15 tsps. cooking oil
Method - Make a smooth dough using flour, salt, turmeric powder. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and then add 10 tsps. oil on top of the dough (another 15 minutes keep it aside). Using this dough, make puri size rounds, fill lemon size coconut mixture in it, close all sides, roll it and  cook both sides on a pre-heated non-stick pan.
