BENGALURU ADIGE - HULI SOPPU ( ಹುಳಿ ಸೊಪ್ಪು )



HULI SOPPU ( ಹುಳಿ ಸೊಪ್ಪು ) - Specialty food from Bengaluru, which is prepared using variety of green leaves such as Spinach (ಪಾಲಕ್ ಸೊಪ್ಪು /  palak soppu), Amarnath (ದಂಟಿನ ಸೊಪ್ಪು  / dantina soppu), Dill leaves (ಸಬ್ಬಕ್ಕಿ ಸೊಪ್ಪು)  etc.,

This is one of my family recipe passed on to generations from my grand-mother, mother & aunties to their children.   




 2 bunch of chopped leaves (I have used Spinach in this recipe)  are pressure cooked until tender 


when cool, grinded with 2tsp. cumin seeds, 1/4 tsp. hing (Asafoetida) powder, 1/4 cup coconut, green chillies & peppercorns to taste

simmered by adding mustard seeds seasoning, salt & tamarind juice 

Served hot with plain rice, chapati etc.,
