Scallion (Green Onion) Dal
SCALLION - also known as Shallots, Green Onion, Spring Onion, Hara Pyaz; has hallow green leaves, used as a vegetable and are eaten raw and cooked. Scallions have a milder taste than other onion varieties.
Ingredients & Method
(LESS THAN 30 MINUTES MEAL)
1 bunch - chopped shallots
1/2 cup chopped spinach leaves
3 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
1/2 cup each - toor dal & moong dal
1 tsp. turmeric powder
2 table spoon lemon or lime juice
1-2 tsps. - roasted cumin seeds, finely chopped garlic and ghee
salt, fresh green & red chilli to taste
Cook dals until tender and allow it to cool
Heat a pan, lightly roast cumin seeds. Add turmeric powder, ghee, chilli & garlic - fry for few minutes
Add cooked dal, coriander, salt and lemon juice - simmer on low heat for few minutes
Serve hot with rice and Indian breads
