American Chop Suey
Preparation time - 20 mins (approximate)
Cooking time - 15 mins (approximate)
Serves - 2 (increase ingredients qty. for more)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup vegetables cut into thin strips (cabbage, carrots, beans, onion)
- 1/4 cup bean sprouts
- 1/2 bunch Bok Choy (Chinese cabbage)
- 1/2 cup boiled noodles and 1/4 cup fried noodles
- Oil for stir-frying
- salt to taste
SAUCE Ingredients (place all the sauce items in a pan, boil for 3-5 mins on a low flame, remove from heat) - few tablespoons of water may be added to reach your desired sauce thickness.
- Red hot chilli sauce to taste
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. plain flour
- 1.5 tsp. vinegar
- soy sauce to taste
- tomato ketchup to taste
Method
- Cook noodles (keep 1/2 cup boiled noodles separately and fry the rest after cooking just for few minutes)
- Heat oil in a pan and stir-fry vegetables for 5-10 mins (avoid overcooking in order to maintain crispness)
- Add prepared sauce to vegetables, mix well to combine
- Add boiled noodles, salt & fried noodles - mix well and fry everything for 2-3 mins (on low flame)
- Remove from heat and serve hot
