MAURITIUS Tartes Bananes

Original "Banana Tarts" recipe borrowed from  The "Mauritius Australia Connection" and "Recipes from Mauritius" web site.  Thanks to  Madeleine and Clancy Philippe for sharing your version of this wonderful & tasty banana recipe.  This is my modified version using few extra ingredients to suit my taste & texture.

Serves - 8 pieces

Ingredients I have used -  2 pastry sheets, sugar to taste, 2 ripe bananas, little milk as needed, butter (few spoons to melt and added to the banana mixture, little bit for greasing tart dish), pinch of cardamom & cinnamon powders

Method - In a bowl add chopped banana pieces, sugar, milk, butter and cook on low flame until golden brown, add cardamom & cinnamon powders, mix well to combine.  Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.  Grease a tart dish, line with pastry sheets, remove any excess pastry from the edges, fill this pastry sheet with prepared banana mixture, decorate on top with remaining pastry sheets, brush with milk on top and bake in a preheated oven at 180-200 deg. C  until golden brown on the top.  (approximately 25-30 minutes).  Can be served warm or cold.
