PUNJABI Makki Di Roti
MAKKI DI ROTI is a flat Indian bread made from Corn Flour (Maize flour), baked on a tava (pan). In the Punjab province of India/Pakistan this is a popular dish during the winter months which tastes great with Sarson Da Saag (cooked Mustard green leaves).
Ingredients
- 2-3 cups of Corn Flour / Maize Flour (ಜೋಳದ ಹಿಟ್ಟು)
- salt to taste
- milk & water to make soft dough
- butter to serve on top
- In a large bowl, add corn flour & salt, make a soft dough using milk & water; set this dough aside for 1 hour
- Divide the dough into small pieces and roll them into round shapes
- Fry them on a preheated pan (on a medium heat) and fry both sides
- Serve hot (with a dollop of butter on top) with SARSON DA SAAG.
