INGREDIENTS FOR DOUGH

·       1 cup plain flour
·       2 tsp. rice flour
·       Salt & chilli powders to taste
·       1 tsp. ghee or oil
·       Water to make soft dough

 
INGREDIENTS FOR FILLING

·       2 finely chopped onion
·       ½ cup fried moong dal (coarsely powdered)
·       2 tsp. besan flour
·       ½ tsp. caraway seeds
·       Salt, pepper powders & chilli flakes to taste
·       Pinch of hing, chat masala, garam masala & ginger powders
·       ¼ tsp. mango powder or lemon juice
·       ½ tsp. roasted cumin & coriander powders


METHOD

  • Using dough ingredients – make a soft dough and set it aside for 20 minutes 
  •  Heats a little bit of oil in a pan, fry onions until golden brown, add other filling ingredients and  fry for 5-10 minutes.  Remove from heat and allow it to cool
  • Out of dough, make small balls, roll into small  circles, add a spoonful of filling, close all sides to cover completely, press a little bit to make it flat, deep fry both sides on medium heat and serve hot or warm with green & tamarind chutney
