Lime PICKLE



This is the traditional way of making home made lime or lemon pickle.


Ingredients
  • 6-8 lemon or lime (washed, cut into 4 pieces)
  • salt to taste
  • red chilli powder to taste
  • pinch of turmeric powder
  • pinch of hing powder
  • Ginger powder to taste
  • 1 or 2 tsps. of mustard seeds & methi seeds (seasoning)
  • Hagalakai, ginger pieces & green chillies may be added (optional)
Method
  • Wash & cut lemon or lime into 4 pieces, mix with salt and store in an airtight glass jar; leave it for a week (check everyday and keep mixing)
  • After a week, lemon or lime pieces will be soaked and mixed well in salt.
  • In oil, season mustard seeds, hing, turmeric, chilli powder & powdered methi seeds  and add this to lemon or lime pieces, mix well and store in an airtight container.  May be refrigerated for freshness
