GUJARATI Dhokla
Ingredients (makes 9 pieces)
- 1 cup besan flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. rava (semolina)
- 2 tsp. sugar
- salt to taste
- 1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup curd (not sour)
- 1 tsp. each of ginger & green chilli paste
- pinch of turmeric powder
- 1 tsp. each of lemon juice + baking soda
- 1 tsp. fruit salt
Method (1) - STEAMING
- Grease a dish & pour mixed batter (except seasoning), spread evenly
- Steam cook until done (approximately 10-15 minutes, similar to steaming idlis)
- After dhokla is ready, season - seasoning ingredients in 1 tsp. oil and pour on top of dhokla, cut & serve with any chutney of your choice.
- Grease a baking dish, spread evenly
- Cook in microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, remove, check and re-cook again until done (texture should be fluffy & soft)
- Pour seasoned ingredients on top, cut & serve
