Green Chutney Chitranna

Method 1 - Coarsely grinded - coconut, green chillies, coriander, salt & hing; added to cooked rice.  (for Green version)


Method 2 - Roasted & grinded - dry red chillies, coconut, methi seeds, sesame seeds, salt, tamarind, hing & jaggery.  (This is similar to below Konkani style except bengal gram & urud dal are NOT added in this recipe) - added to cooked rice. (for Red version)

Red Chutney Chitranna
For Konkani style

ingredients - 1-2 cups cooked rice, roasted and grinded 1/4 tsp. each of bengal gram, urud dal, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, methi seeds, salt and red chilies to taste, tamarind juice to taste, 1-2 tsps. coconut.   

For seasoning - mustard seeds, peanuts, curry leaves.  




Method - Heat oil in a pan, season mustard seeds, peanuts and curry leaves.  Add grinded spice ingredients, rice, salt & tamarind juice.  Mix well and serve.
