ITALIAN - PIZZA Menu




















PIZZA DOUGH: (makes 3 pizza bases)
 (Ready made frozen pizza base available at the super market)

Ingredients & Method
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tsp. (1 sachet) dried yeast
  • Pinch of caster sugar
  • 4 cups plain flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, plus extra for brushing


Combine the water, yeast and sugar in a small bowl. Set aside for 5 minutes or until foamy. Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the centre. Add the yeast mixture and oil and mix everything together. 
Brush a bowl lightly with oil. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in the prepared bowl and turn to coat in oil. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes or until dough doubles in size. (You can prepare this recipe up to 1 hour before serving. Prep: 15 mins (+ 5 mins standing time, 30 mins rising time).


PIZZA SAUCE: (basic tomato one) Ingredients


  • 1 can of tomato paste or tomato puree
  • 2 tsp. BBQ sauce
  • Salt as per taste
  • ½ tsp. of – pepper, red chilli powder, parsley, oregano & basil powders
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
Heat oil in a sauce pan and mix all the above ingredients together and simmer until the sauce thickens.


To prepare PIZZA
 
·       Knead and roll pizza dough that you prepared earlier as per your requirements (small, medium or large). 
·       Spread a layer with your prepared pizza sauce
·       Spread a layer of ½ cup grated cheese
·       Top with your favourite vegetables (onion, capsicum, pineapple, tomato etc.,)
·       If you like add some extra cheese on top of vegetables
·       Sprinkle salt and cracked pepper to taste. Bake in the pre-heated oven at 200 °C for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and done. Slice, serve and enjoy with French fries, potato gems, hash browns or simple garden/Greek salad.
