Aloo-Mirch in Gravy
Aloo-Mirch Masala (Potato-Capsicum gravy)
Ingredients: (serves 3-4 people)
- 3-4 large potatoes peeled and cut into medium size cubes
- 2 large green capsicums (or any colour of your choice)
- 2 tbsps. cooking oil
- 1 tsp. cumin seeds
- 2 tsps. coriander powder
- 1 tsp. cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp. red chilli powder (or sliced green chilli for extra hot)
- 1 tsp. garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- ONION, GARLIC, PEAS AND TOMATO OPTIONAL - I have prepared with or without these vegetables and both tasted delicious :-)
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds and fry till spluttering stops.
- Add the potatoes and powdered spices. Season with salt to taste and mix well.
- Cook till potatoes are done, stirring frequently and gently to avoid breaking up of potatoes. Sprinkle some water only if needed.
- Add the capsicum and cook for 2 more minutes. Sprinkle the garam masala powder and simmer till sauce become thick.
- Serve hot with Chapati or plain boiled rice.
